9/1/08 - 7 pm - National Truth Commission on Poverty
The Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign is hosting a National Truth Commission on economic human rights violations. People will be testifying to an internationally distinguished panel of commissioners on their experiences of being denied the basic necessities of life, including healthcare, housing, education, communication, and food. People from across the nation will be sharing their stories including victims of Hurricane Katrina, migrant workers, Native Americans, homeless mothers, independent truckers and more. The National Truth Commission will be held at Christ Lutheran Church on Capital Hill, starting at 7pm on September 1st.
