Media Center, west of main stage at the State Capitol, St. Paul

The MN Immigrant Rights Action Coalition (MIRAc) along with the March 10th Committee and the Committee Against Militarization from Chicago, Voces de la Frontera from Milwaukee and Latinos Against the War from Los Angeles are calling for a press conference in conjunction with our participation in the "March on the RNC and Stop the War" demonstration at 11:45am on Monday, September 1st in St. Paul, Minnesota.

We will gather with thousands of supporters of the Immigrant Rights Movement to voice our opposition to the Republican Party and its devastating policies and tactics that have caused the suffering of millions of families in the United States and around the world, especially immigrant families, people of color and poor people.

The Endgame plan and the creation of ICE as part of the Department of Homeland Security have been used to terrorize immigrants into accepting exploitative working conditions, living standards and racist attacks. Mass raids and deportations have devastated communities, most recently in Laurel, Mississippi where 595 innocent workers were taken from their families and will likely face trumped-up criminal charges to justify the Gestapo tactics used by ICE agents.

We oppose the unjust policies of this administration, including the construction of the border wall, the e-verify program and the universal ID, touchback, and the exorbitant fines schemes. The money used to fund these failed programs and continue ICE's inhumane operations adds only to the ballooning national debt instead of funding essential infrastructure, education and healthcare necessities.

We will raise our voices in front of the Republican National Convention to condemn the attacks against our community and demand an Immediate Moratorium on ICE Raids and Deportations and Legalization for all within the first 100 days of a new administration.
